Chickasaw Press-Non-Fiction- Created in response to the basic need of the Chickasaws to own their history, Chickasaw Press—the first Native American tribal press of its kind—was established as an entity of the Chickasaw Nation in 2006.

White Dog Press- Fiction- The addition of White Dog Press as a secondary imprint under the Chickasaw Press, allows Chickasaw Press to build upon its vision of “preserving, perpetuating and providing an awareness of Chickasaw history and culture."

Most of the authors are citizens of the Chickasaw Nation and the publishing wing is part of the Chickasaw Nation’s Culture and Humanities Department, located in Ada, OK. To view the full range of books available through Chicksaw Press and White Dog Press visit chickasawpress.com.

An opioid epidemic, A trade war, Not America in 2020, but China in the 1840s

Following the harrowing journey of Lady Su-Mei and her family, Robert Wang’s debut novel is a historical drama told from dual perspectives—Chinese and British—about the First Opium War, a tragic and history- altering conflict. Honoring the tradition of noted historical fiction writers such as Ken Follett, Philippa Gregory, Bernard Cornwell, and James Clavell, The Opium Lord’s Daughter artfully weaves actual events and characters into the narrative, offering the reader a selective glimpse into a world populated with rogue drug traders, imperialist government officials, religious zealots, and scrappy survivors.

The Opium Lord’s Daughter is an expedition through the destruction of a culture, underscoring the hold and havoc drug empires continue to exert in society, even to this day. A must-read for fans of Shogun, White Queen, Downton Abbey, Poldark, and other sweeping tales rooted in history. Learn more at: RobertWangAuthor.com
The Opium Lord's Daughter has won the multi-cultural category for the Independent Press Award, is a finalist for the Book Excellence Awards, a finalist for the Self-Publishing Review Book Awards, and is currently leading for historical fiction with the Readers Choice Awards

Written with the efficiency of a reporter and a master storyteller’s eye, MANSON EXPOSED brings new life and unknown details to this story very few have ever known. Davis was on the front lines of the story and offers vivid, personal accounts, interviews and hitherto unknown details from the very beginning right up to the death of the blue collar psycho named Charles Manson.

Winner  2019 IPBA Benjamin Franklin Award
Bronze 2019 IPPY Award

Chula, a Chickasaw boy, is suddenly thrown into the murky and treacherous worlds of warfare and adulthood after a traumatic ambush costs him his father. Left haunted by a restless spirit, Chula concludes, in line with the customs of his time, that only vengeance will make things right again. Chula the Fox is a middle grade historical novel, steeped in Chickasaw language and culture and set in the tribe’s Homeland, near present-day Mississippi. It tells an honest and often frank story about Chickasaw lives and the challenges our Native American ancestors faced during the early eighteenth century. Anthony Perry spent several years researching Chickasaw life before writing the book.

An interview of Kathleen by Anthony Mora, CEO of PR For Writers.

A Conversation with Kathleen

I met Kathleen at the wonderfully produced 805 Writers’ Conference. I make a point of that, since she produced it. Kathleen is a savvy navigator of all things publishing. With four published books and three plays under her belt, she understands how authors and artists are often confused by the new world of marketing their products and themselves. Kathleen, whose expertise encompasses seminars, conferences, special events, publicity, marketing communications and trade show production, maintains a small list of clients that allow her to continue her volunteerism, which includes being co-founder and executive director of the Pacific Institute for Professional Writing, producer of the annual 805 Writers’ Conference, president of the national organization Small Publishers, Artists & Writers Network (SPAWN), and organizer of a monthly literary meeting in Thousand Oaks, CA sponsored by SPAWN and the Independent Writers of Southern California. The following is a conversation with Kathleen on books, writers and the brave new world of publishing.

Kathleen Kaiser named "Book Publicist
of the year" by Book Publicists of
Southern California

Kathleen Kaiser, president of Kathleen Kaiser & Associates, was been named “Publicist of the Year” for 2016 by the Book Publicists of Southern California (BPSC). The award was presented at a ceremony on October 13 at the Sportsman Lodge in Studio City, CA. This is the 22nd year for the Irwin Awards.

“I was quite shocked by the phone call from Irwin Zucker of BPSC,” said Kaiser. “I’ve been doing publicity since the age of  sixteen and have always stayed in the background. It’s quite a different sensation to be in the spotlight. I’m flattered by the award.”
