  Marketing Communications Services

Offered by Kathleen Kaiser & Associates

We work with writers to achieve their goals when publishing a book.

Our Full-Service Campaigns last six months at the minimum and start once an edited copy of the manuscript is available for advance reviews. We prefer to start at least four months before the release date. Then we work through the release and follow up with additional sales and publicity opportunities over the next two months or more.

We are now offering Individual Author Services as an option for writers with limited budgets. This a la carte method supplements whatever marketing campaign an author is running by themselves.

To learn more about any of these services, please review the information below, then fill out this brief questionnaire for Kathleen to learn about your book. She will contact you within three days of receiving your answers.

Advance Spotlight Book Reviews Email

So many reviewers! We’ll help you reach them!

Reviews help sell your book, especially self-published books that rely on Amazon as the primary sales outlet. Editorial reviews help kick-start the review process. Readers go over the reviews to see what others thought of the book before purchasing. Advance Spotlight Book Reviews highlights your book and presents it to over 2,800 legitimate reviewers!

Each email contains information to attract a reviewer, so they will download your book. It will contain:
  • 250-word description that sells
  • author bio
  • any advance praise such as cover blurb
  • cover image
  • author photo
  • book details (ISBNs, etc.)
  • a way for reviewers to download an eBook from our password-protected web page

This program receives the best responses when going out three to four months before the book’s release date.

Price is $500 when received with a well-written book description and bio. If we need to improve it so that you garner more reviews, the price is $650.
Advertising – Amazon, Goodreads, Facebook, and Instagram

Social media ads get a lot more eyes on your book!

We live in a digital mecca as far as advertising is concerned. When it comes to book sales, it's essential to advertise on the key sites — Amazon, Goodreads, Facebook, and Instagram. Selling books is about getting your beautiful cover out in front of as many eyes as possible of people who read your genre of book.
The best news is that online advertising is budget-friendly. We will help you set your budget, then test to see the results before over-committing to a platform. Each of these outlets is unique in its needs, but they can all work together to get the most visibility for your book. We have put in the time, not only researching but also putting what we've learned into practice for clients.

We will review your Amazon book page and Author Central so that it has a dynamic description that grabs attention from potential readers.

Amazon

Sponsored ads on Amazon can boost your book to the top of a search page or the lock screens of people's Kindles. With targeted keywords and genre categories, Amazon makes sure that people searching for something to read can find your book and easily purchase it. We work to get the campaign going and make sure the keywords and bids for clicks target the readers you need!

What you get:
  • complete setup of the campaign
  • keyword, genre, and category selection
  • picking the best bid price per click-through
  • monitoring sales throughout the campaign
  • help with your Amazon book page

Price is $275 plus your budget designated for advertising.

Instagram and Facebook

The beauty of social media is advertising. Sponsored ads get you visibility outside of your usual network and, depending on your budget, can get you daily impressions larger than you ever could on your own. We create beautiful graphic ads combined with a caption to grab the eye and direct people to purchase your book.

What we deliver:
  • graphic design of the ad
  • keyword and audience targeting
  • Instagram post or story ad creation
  • Facebook-specific graphic and attention-grabbing caption

Price is $350 plus your budget designated for advertising.

Goodreads

This site is a wonderful community where authors and readers connect. Friends can let friends know what they are reading, how they like the book, and comment or review on the author's page. It's a great place to help an author boost sales organically. But did you know they also have advertising? Advertising on Goodreads is another proven way to get your book in front of the eyes of readers who value a well-written book. This service is a little different from the rest, and we've spent time researching and analyzing the best ways to go about getting the most out of a Goodreads campaign.

What we deliver
  • we work with Goodreads to create your campaign
  • Audience targeting
  • review and, if necessary, help with your Amazon/Goodreads page
  • advertising graphics

These online advertising options would be a great pairing to the eBook promotions. Run them together and get the most out of both.

Price is $275 plus your budget designated for advertising.
Book Contests

Award-winning books inspire readers to buy! But how to choose which contests to enter?

Gaining recognition for your work is exciting after the years of effort writing a book. Validation from contests helps with sales long term. Having "Award-Winning Book" on the cover boosts prospective readers’ confidence when purchasing your book.

But contests can be confusing to enter. We are here to help by taking the guesswork out of entering. We've been helping our clients enter contests for years. Using this service takes the anxiety out of not knowing if you've done it right.

What you get with our book contest service:
  • our know-how to get your book entered into the appropriate contest(s) and categories
  • assurance that all your material is in its best form before entering
  • all the heavy lifting; i.e., uploading all materials required and mailing hard copies of all books
Keeping track of all deadlines, tracking your book through the process, and, if you win, supplying the award icons for your website, social media, and book covers.

What we will need from you are ten print copies of your book and an epub file for those contests that take digital submissions. The price does not include postage or entry fees.

Price for this service is $250 and can extend over three months.
Create Custom Media Kit/Sales Sheet for a Book

Don’t submit without a media kit!

A media kit, also called a sales sheet, is one of the best and most important tools to include when submitting a book for review, for a potential interview, and to get a book signing.  There are many places to use this tool, yet too many self-published authors skip this critical step.

What is in a media kit?
  • a concise, well-written synopsis of the book in under 200 words
  • an author bio at about 150 words
  • any advance reviews or book blurbs
  • the book cover image and author photo
  • the primary sales information on the book — ISBNs, retail price, page count, etc.
Many authors are unable to reduce their book description or even their bio to 200 words.

Let us help by writing a dynamic description of the plot, pulling the interesting facts about the author for a bio, and designing it all on one sheet. View this link for samples.

Turnaround time is three weeks once all material is submitted. You will receive a .pdf version for printing to be sent with books for review or attached to an interview request, and a .jpg version for your website and social media.

Price for this service is $500.
eBook Promotions

Let’s target all those eBook readers!

Placing your book in front of targeted readers is the best way to make sales. eBook promotions are an essential marketing tool to get your book sales up and into the hands of readers everywhere. Our eBook marketing strategy can help you do that. We've tested lists and found the ones that produce the best, with the broadest readership bases. Get your book out in front of the folks who will want to read your story!

In 2020, eBook sales were up 22% over previous years. It might seem like a market that doesn't need attention. But the reality is that 35% of the market reads on their eReader, compared to 37% who only read physical books. Don't overlook eBook sales. They grow your sales just as much as a physical book can!

Many of you know BookBub, the eBook promotion 500-pound gorilla. Yes, you want to get in front of their ten million members, but they will only take books that have a sales track record and at least ten five-star reviews on Amazon. By eliminating low-selling books, 95% of BookBub members report buying a book from an unknown author, which builds their success.

We want your book in front of this audience, and by starting with smaller eBook promoters, you will build the following to be accepted by BookBub.

What you get with this service:
  • A carefully curated list of eBook promoters who are in your genre
  • A consultation on what price point to set your eBook while running promotions
  • We do the work for you to place your book into each promotion that fits your genre and your budget
  • Advice from our team on presenting your best book description

If you're doing an eBook promotion, check out the online advertising services we offer. These two services work well in tandem.

Pricing for a month-long campaign is $375 plus entry fee for promotions. We need your book cover image, 350-word book description, and publishing details – or your media kit.
